Our story
The Commons™ was founded by educators, technologists, and behavior change experts who saw how digital devices were eroding school culture and student engagement.
At first, we worked with schools to test physical tools and lock-based systems. While these offered short-term results, they were expensive to maintain, rigid to implement and ultimately unsustainable.
More importantly, these restrictive approaches stripped away student agency. They managed behavior in the moment but did nothing to help them develop a healthy relationship with technology.
That realization reshaped our vision.
