How It Works

A Modern Way to Manage Cellphones at School—Built for Today’s Students

The Commons™, believes students thrive in environments where they can focus, connect, and learn without the constant pull of distraction technology.

Our app-based platform helps schools create distraction-free learning spaces—without locking phones away or adding more burden to teachers.

The Commons makes it easy.

School Mode turns on automatically when a student arrives at school—no extra steps required.

Students get to keep their phones, but distracting apps are blocked during school hours

Calls and texts work in case of an emergency (check school policies for guidelines)

If a student disables the app, school staff are notified so they can check in and provide support if the student is struggling to stay off their cellphone

Students are not tracked. The only data we use is de-identified and supports the app’s basic function — no names, locations, or personal information is stored

Students feel trusted, not punished, and can practice better digital balance throughout the day
